Intention. Agenda. Motivation.

For the Magdalen laundry my agenda was to highlight the sites previous use, to document this through a process of archiving, so in future use of the site there is sensitive recognition of the past.

Less of a focus on the building and more on the marks of occupancy.

Intention for archive as process is to continue developing the process of the methodology and to apply the methodology in situ with new sites and conditions.

Context.

Through heritage listing you are not allowed to intervene with alterations to the physical structure of the site. That's why I am working with ephemeral/temporal/surface conditions as a way to unpack the vagueness of the site.

The processes and criteria in which we evaluate and define the importance of culturally significant sites.

Giving the viewer the opportunity to access the information collected through archiving and allowing them to speculate on the sites potentialities through sensitivity of its past.

Site and/or Situation.

Heritage listed sites.

Applying the methodology of archiving to sites that are limited in their public accessibility.

Unpacking the vagueness of these interiors by exploring temporal and ephemeral conditions.

Audience. Occupants. Demographic. User Group.

Duality between education and heritage listing platforms.

The intention is to be the catalyst in conversation around the information provided through heritage listing.

What we deem is important is through a political context, what information we provide through heritage listing, we need to pay attention to the temporal and ephemeral conditions within these sites.

We remove the human context from these sites.

Altering the framework in which we view these culturally significant sites.

Stakeholders.

Local council. Government. Education. Community. Private foundations (ie Robin Boyd foundation, Heide, Beaumaris Modern). Architects and Interior Designers.

Practice. Professionalism.

Operating with a questioning of my agency to the alteration of heritage listed sites.

Implementing sensitivity when working with these sites.

Identifying the sites past to speculate on its future use.

Contacting heritage listed sites through Victorian Council Victoria, local councils and private foundations.

Design Approach.

This practice presents itself as a typology through the methodology of archiving on how to approach heritage listed sites.

New questions/statement:

The way in which heritage sites are presented and defined negates temporal and ephemeral residue of occupancy.

Preservation, revaluing.

Human context within heritage sites, vagueness, residue of occupancy
